Experiments in genius

A recent bout of car boot sale burrowing led my friends Ben and Tom to a report of the 1970s Soviet “psychic”research programme by two U.S. journalists.

Maybe something got lost in translation, or maybe their luggage contained more than a little weed, but the authors seem to have be on convinced that the Russians were seeking to resurrect the dead.

However, they did record one case study of a man being “trained” to believe he was a musical genius. The patient seems to have been one step ahead of the programme as he went round Moscow telling everyone his name was Tchaikovsky and he’d just finished writing the Moonlight Sonata.
