Earthquake

This is the ‘Earthquake’ mass by Brumel, which gets its name from the text of the motet that Brumel set and then expanded into this greater work.

I heard it at the King’s Place hall a few years ago, performed by The Sixteen, and had in a prime seat right in the middle of the front row of the balcony, exactly where a patron cardinal would have been placed to listen.

Listen to those pulsating waves of sound, which are both light and dark at once.
