A completely idyllic house in Dorset, still inhabited and with a folly at the end of the “garden” (about a mile away). The above photo is from this article, which a couple of years ago alerted me to the one weekend a year that the house is open to the public. The following photos are from my own ramblings around the walled gardens and estate, down past the folly to Europe’s largest onshore oil field.

      Ha ha, good spotting – I was more entranced by the red hat stand, the light on the green walls and the row of boots. The combination of that beauty with the ugly fridge is v typical of English country houses though – there can often be a very “bracing”, utilitarian approach to comfort and modern living.
