New York Public Library

Thanks to Instagram, in particular the Obvious State feed, I’d heard that the New York Public Library had recently reopened their Rose Reading Room after three years of renovations.

I hot-footed it there on my first day (libraries are so much one of my happy places that I didn’t feel I was entirely home again at university till I’d had my first sight of the Radcliffe Camera), and spent about an hour there enjoying the architecture

the murals and decorations

and of course the reading rooms, although I rather thought the students must feel like animals in the zoo having tourists walk through and stare at them.
