Two finds I picked up in Three Lives & Co in New York, where I spent a happy evening browsing, and which I am looking forward to reading while wrapped in a blanket.
This one is lining up to have a main character rather similar to Gabriel Oak
and this one is reminding me of the first winter at uni I spent studying medieval history and reading endless articles on the younger sons of Northern France, while walking round cold, grey streets that smelt of woodsmoke.
